Brimming with vitality, the marine ecosystem of Banwa serves as a refuge for numerous uncommon and endangered species, including the highly endangered Hawksbill Turtle and the Dugong (Sea Cow).
Tucked away in a Marine Protected Area, Banwa Private Island has seen an astounding comeback in the numbers of formerly endangered species. It is especially encouraging that Black Tip Reef Sharks are making their way back to the island's shallow waters, and the growing number of Hawksbill Turtle nest sites suggests a very promising trend.
