Golfing in the Maldives

Wherever you go, it wouldn’t feel like a holiday without a golf course. Lucky for you, the Maldives Islands offer a great golf course, and there is another $500-million floating island project in the works. The Maldives consists of thousands of little islands. About two hundred of these islands are inhabited, and they straddle the equator and the crystalline waters of the Indian Ocean. Every resort you visit will have a shallow yet brilliant blue lagoon.

Idea in the Works: The Floating Island Golf Course

While you may have trouble avoiding the water with this golf course, you will find few courses in the world with such an extravagant design. The course boasts 27 holes and is located on three islands linked together. How do the islands link together? Well, you have an underwater tunnel that will lead golfers across to the different islands. You can also visit the clubhouse and be taken to the main bar in a glass elevator. The main bar doubles as an aquarium. In addition, golfers will enjoy 45 private islands and a conservation centre.

What makes golf in the Maldives amazing? First, you have access to wonderful year-round weather. Second, you can play golf while unwinding with a cold drink, or you can catch up on the latest world sports news.
